The University of the Punjab is Pakistan’s oldest and largest public research university, founded in Lahore in 1882. Campuses
The university has a presence in multiple cities across Pakistan: 
  • Quaid-i-Azam Campus (New Campus), Lahore

    : This is the main academic and administrative hub, spread over 1,800 acres. A canal divides the campus’s academic blocks from the student housing.

  • : Located in the city center, this historic campus houses the College of Art and Design, the IT Center, and the Oriental College, among other departments.

  • : Established in 2006, this campus offers programs in disciplines such as Commerce, Economics, Management Sciences, Law, English, and Information Technology.

  • : Opened in 2012, it provides studies in Commerce, Economics, Management Sciences, Law, and Computer Science.

  • Khanaspur Campus

    : A summer campus located in the Himalayan mountain range, it serves as a research facility and a recreational spot for faculty and students.

Admissions
Admission to many of the university’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs requires a mandatory entry test. 
  • Entry Test: For the academic year 2025–26, the university mandated an admission test for all undergraduate programs on open merit seats. There are specific test categories for different fields of study.
  • Application Process: Candidates must apply for the entry test and admission separately through the university’s online portals.
  • LLB Programs: Admission to LLB programs requires both the PU Admission Test and the Law Admission Test (LAT).
  • Merit Lists: The university releases merit lists for different programs, sessions, and campuses, which are published on its official website.

Is an entrance test required for admission?

Yes, an entry test is required for many programs at Punjab University.

Admissions generally open during the Fall semester (July-August) each year. For specific entry test dates, check the official website in April or May.

Undergraduate (BS): The age limit is 24 years.
Masters: The age limit is 26 years, except for the College of Art & Design, which has a limit of 28 years.

Hostel facilities are available for both male and female students, particularly for those coming from outside Lahore.

A request for an original degree is typically processed within two months of receiving the application form.
